The scenario:
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) paid an unannounced visit to a poultry farm on three occasions to investigate potential breaches of health and safety law after an employee fell off a wooden crate at height and sustained serious injuries.
What happened?
Following the accident, the business made their RIDDOR notification, and the premises were visited unannounced by HSE. After a further two more inspections, HSE were satisfied that the farm could have done nothing more to prevent the accident.
The outcome:
